The newly appointed Minister of Justice, Akın Gürlek, thanked the Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party, Devlet Bahçeli, via social media for the support he gave him during the group meeting.
After the official appointment decision, Akın Gürlek was assigned from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to the Ministry of Justice. Gürlek published a thank-you message on his personal social media account following the statements made by the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli in the Parliament.
In his post, Gürlek stated, "I would like to thank the Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli, for the support and wishes he expressed towards me during his party's group meeting. The service of justice is a common responsibility we carry towards our nation. We will fulfill our duties while adhering to the dignity of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and the fundamental principles of the rule of law. Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will work with determination and resolve to further strengthen our nation's expectations of justice."
WHAT DID BAHÇELİ SAY?
In his speech at the group meeting, Bahçeli expressed his support for Akın Gürlek, who was appointed as the Minister of Justice, and Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, and harshly criticized the Republican People's Party (CHP) for its protest during Gürlek's oath-taking ceremony in the Parliament. In his criticisms towards the CHP, Bahçeli stated, "Is it appropriate for a politician to pick fights here and there? Does it align with the political line of the CHP? Has your setup in Istanbul been disrupted, is your reaction based on that? What are you, who are you? Know your place." He also added, "I congratulate them separately. I wish them success with our full support."
