AKOM has warned about a heatwave that will affect Istanbul. The temperatures are expected to last until Friday, reaching between 34-37 degrees Celsius, increasing the risk of heatstroke, while also entering critical days in terms of forest fires.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Affairs Directorate Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has warned Istanbul residents about dangerous temperatures. According to the prepared meteorological report, the hot air wave originating from Basra, which has been affecting the southern and eastern regions of the country, is expected to be effective in a large part of the country, especially in Istanbul, starting from Wednesday (tomorrow).

IT WILL LAST UNTIL FRIDAY

Due to the hot air wave expected to last until Friday, temperatures in Istanbul are predicted to rise between 34-37°C.

BE CAREFUL OF FOREST FIRES

High temperatures, low relative humidity, and strong (20-50 km/h) northern winds on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are considered to pose a high risk for forest fires. Therefore, it is important for citizens to be extremely careful and sensitive to fires.

TIME HAS BEEN GIVEN

Additionally, during these days when dangerous temperatures will be effective, it is emphasized that the period between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM, when the sun's rays are most direct, is the riskiest time for sunstroke. Especially in areas like coastal regions where relative humidity is relatively high, it is recommended that the elderly, children, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic conditions such as asthma and heart failure avoid direct sunlight.
