It was claimed that a cleaning staff named M.K. at Lokman Hekim Hospital in Van intervened with a patient during surgery and acted as an assistant to the specialist doctor during the cesarean procedure. According to a report by Ruşen Takva from T24, a staff member working at the same hospital confirmed the allegations regarding Lokman Hekim Hospital in Van. "THE ALLEGATIONS ARE TRUE"The staff member stated, "The allegations are true. The individuals mentioned are staff we know and are aware that they do not have diplomas. In fact, there are even records of one of them performing procedures alone without a specialist doctor present during a surgery." "THE HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT IS AWARE"The staff also mentioned, "They were saying that they did not have diplomas themselves. Since they worked in a closed environment like the operating room, they could do this without anyone seeing. They were already saying that they did not have diplomas but had been trained that way by doctors for many years. They are informal practitioners. The hospital management is aware of this situation. The person in question is known to the hospital management and directors and participates in many surgeries. Among these surgeries are bypass, obstetrics, and especially neurosurgery operations. These are the individuals who directly assist the doctor during these procedures. Moreover, it is not just one person. We know that there are 6-7 informal staff working in the operating room in this manner. We even know that the operating room supervisor does not have a diploma," he said. STATEMENT FROM THE HOSPITALThe hospital management, which denied the allegations, stated that the cleaning staff could enter the operating room as per regulations and that there could be no intervention with patients, asserting that the relevant regulatory rules were followed. In the statement, it was said, "As Lokman Hekim Health Group, we carry out all our operations within the framework of the rules set by the laws. The rules regarding the personnel to be assigned in the operating room are clearly regulated by the 'Regulation on the Operation of Inpatient Treatment Institutions.' Therefore, the allegations in question are not true." No statement was made by the hospital management regarding whether M.K. has any training in this regard.
