A new development has occurred regarding Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, who was arrested as part of a corruption investigation into the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, along with his son Gökhan Böcek and daughter-in-law Zuhal Böcek.
Muhittin Böcek, arrested within the scope of the investigation, had been suspended from his duties by a decision of the Ministry of Interior. The day before yesterday, Muhittin Böcek, his son Gökhan Böcek, and his daughter-in-law Zuhal Böcek had filed an effective remorse application. Following the application, statements were taken from all three individuals.
STRIKING CLAIM FROM BARIŞ YARKADAŞ
A notable statement on the matter came from journalist Barış Yarkadaş. Speaking on TV100 broadcast, Yarkadaş claimed that Muhittin Böcek would resign from his mayoral position.
In his statement, Yarkadaş said, "CHP-affiliated Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek will resign from his post in the coming days. He will thus end his mayoral role."
