The protesters called for immigration policies to be more just and humane, demanding a review of ICE's practices.
After the killing of two individuals by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the state of Minnesota, a group of protesters demonstrated in front of the office of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. A group in Minnesota gathered in front of Governor Walz's office demanding accountability for the ICE agents responsible for the deaths of the two U.S. citizens.
In the demonstration organized by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and civil society organizations in Minnesota, banners reading "Abolish ICE" and "ICE Go Home" were carried. CAIR Minnesota Director Jaylani Hussein stated in an interview with AA correspondent that ICE has violated both federal and state laws.
"WE ARE LOSING OUR FREEDOM"
Hussein called for legal action against the officers responsible for the deaths of the two individuals. Hussein said, "I think they are completely losing their mental and operational controls regarding ICE. After seeing their failures in Minnesota and how costly it has been for the public, I don't think ICE will go to another community." Protester Diane Dengate also stated, "We are losing our freedom, we are losing people. We must come forward and be a voice for those who cannot make their voices heard."

In the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, ICE agents fatally shot 37-year-old American citizen Renee Nicole Macklin Good in her vehicle during operations targeting immigrants on January 7.
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem claimed that this individual "attempted to run over ICE officers and hit them with her vehicle." During protests in Minneapolis, another person was shot while being attempted to be detained by ICE teams on January 24. Authorities stated that the 37-year-old victim was an American nurse named Alex Jeffrey Pretti and that he was found to be in possession of a weapon at the time of the incident.
