A passenger bus near the Döşemealtı district of Antalya lost control while taking a turn, crashed into the barriers, and overturned into the ditch. According to initial reports, 8 people died and 26 were injured in the accident.
A terrible accident occurred around 10:30 AM on the Antalya North Ring Road near the Döşemealtı district of Antalya. A passenger bus belonging to Buzlu Tourism, with license plate 26 ABG 022, overturned after hitting the barriers while taking a turn.
8 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
Teams were dispatched to the accident site upon notification. The teams intervened with some passengers who were thrown out of the vehicle. Passengers trapped inside the vehicle were rescued by AFAD and fire brigade rescue teams. While 8 people lost their lives in the accident, 26 others were injured. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances for treatment.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin and Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Ahmet Kavukcu also arrived at the accident site to observe the rescue efforts.
GOVERNOR ŞAHİN: IT OVERTURNED WHILE TAKING THE TURN
Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin arrived at the accident site for an inspection. In a statement here, Şahin said, "The accident occurred at the Kömürcüler Junction in our Döşemealtı district of Antalya, where a passenger bus overturned after failing to take the turn at the junction. Unfortunately, 8 of our citizens lost their lives, and 26 of our citizens were injured. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, primarily Antalya City Hospital, for treatment. I pray for God's mercy on the deceased citizens and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. The weather is rainy, the roads are wet, and there was fog at the time of the accident. However, this is not a road to speed on. Details will emerge after the investigation," he said.

Images from the accident site showed that the ring road had turned into a battlefield. The injured were taken to hospitals by ambulances after the initial intervention by health teams at the scene. Those trapped inside and under the vehicle were rescued as a result of the teams' rescue efforts.
