A social media influencer, Yağmur Şifa Yaprak, who was arrested in Istanbul on charges of promoting illegal gambling, is facing a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years. Following an investigation conducted by the Cyber Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was alleged that Yaprak encouraged individuals to engage in fixed-odds or pool betting and games of chance based on sports events. The indictment has been sent to the criminal court of first instance.
As a result of the investigation conducted regarding the allegation of promoting illegal gambling in Istanbul, an indictment was prepared against social media influencer Yağmur Şifa Yaprak, who was arrested, seeking a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years.
The investigation conducted by the Cyber Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been completed regarding the arrested Yağmur Şifa Yaprak for the allegation of promoting illegal gambling.
In the indictment, it was requested that the suspect be sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison and a monetary fine of up to 3,000 days for the crime of "encouraging individuals to advertise and otherwise engage in fixed-odds or pool betting or games of chance based on sports competitions."
The indictment has been sent to the criminal court of first instance for evaluation.
