The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated an ex officio investigation against Eğitim-Sen on the grounds of "calling for a strike aimed at inciting social events without the legal conditions for a strike being met."
In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that "An investigation has been initiated ex officio regarding the members of the Central Executive Board of Eğitim-Sen and the users of the relevant social media account for the crime of publicly inciting to commit a crime, related to the incident of calling for a legal strike without the conditions being met, on the official social media account of Eğitim-Sen on March 24, 2025, aimed at provoking social events occurring in our country."
In a post made on Eğitim-Sen's social media accounts, the following statements were used: "We Support the Just Struggle of University Students! Eğitim Sen member Academic Staff will go on strike on Tuesday, March 25! University students have risen against the increasingly deepening undemocratic practices in the country, the suppression of freedom of expression, the appointment of trustee rectors, and attacks on freedom of thought and organization. We will never leave the students alone in their struggle for a Democratic Turkey and a Free, Autonomous University! We stand with the students against the long-standing undemocratic practices, pressures, and lawlessness! As Eğitim Sen member academic staff, we are not producing services on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, with the demand for a "University for the Benefit of Humanity, Society, and Nature!"
