Birol Şenkal, President of the Nazilli Coffeehouse Owners Chamber in Aydın, lost his life after a liposuction operation performed at a private hospital. While it was determined that Şenkal suffered internal bleeding after the surgery, the Provincial Health Directorate launched a judicial investigation into the doctor and the hospital.
Birol Şenkal, who served as the President of the Coffeehouse Chamber in the Nazilli district of Aydın for four terms, passed away yesterday at the hospital where he was referred after undergoing liposuction surgery at a private hospital. Following Şenkal's death, his family filed a criminal complaint alleging negligence in the incident.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO DOCTOR AND HOSPITAL
In response, the Aydın Provincial Health Directorate initiated an administrative investigation into the private hospital and the operating surgeon, Op. Dr. L.A., on allegations of 'medical malpractice.' It was reported that the matter has also been taken to the judicial level, with an investigation launched by the Aydın Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
INTERNAL BLEEDING
According to claims by the family and their lawyers, Şenkal developed internal bleeding following the operation carried out on Monday, May 11. As his condition worsened, he was referred to Aydın Adnan Menderes University Training and Research Hospital, where he died. It was reported that the course of the investigation will become clear based on the report to be prepared by the Provincial Health Directorate.
"WE WILL FOLLOW UP ON THE PROCESS"
Lawyers for the Şenkal family, Egemen Kökçıkaran and Nurten Kökçıkaran, said in a statement, 'We will follow the legal process until the end. It is too early to say anything at this stage. There are some irregularities we have identified. We will pursue these. We will seek justice for President Birol Şenkal to the very end.'
