SWEPT AWAY BY THE CURRENT FOR METERS
The incident occurred in the Aksu neighborhood of the Borçka district. While near the stream, 11-year-old Eslem Yenilmez lost her balance, fell into the water, and was swept away by the current. Citizens who saw the little girl being dragged approximately 300 meters by the current immediately took action.
CITIZENS DESCENDED INTO THE STREAM WITH A ROPE
To rescue the little girl, citizens descended into the stream bed from a retaining wall about 10 meters high using a rope. At that moment, diver Kemal Ateş, who jumped into the stream, reached Eslem, who had been swept away by the current, and pulled her out of the water. The rescue operation was recorded on the mobile phone cameras of nearby citizens.
HER HEALTH CONDITION REPORTED AS GOOD
Upon notification, health and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene. Eslem Yenilmez, who was pulled out of the stream through the joint efforts of citizens and teams, was taken to Borçka State Hospital by ambulance. It was reported that the little girl, who was taken under treatment, is in good health.
