A woman in Japan who symbolically married a character created through the artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT stated that she loves her "husband" but fears that he might disappear at any moment due to the system potentially crashing.
According to local news reports, a 32-year-old woman named Kano began chatting with ChatGPT to console herself after breaking up with her fiancé of three years.
"A HUSBAND WHO ALWAYS LISTENS"
Kano, who said that the AI chatbot always "behaved kindly" and "listened to her," started to build a character according to her expectations within this system.
Kano explained that she began messaging frequently with this character, whom she named "Klaus," and gradually realized that she was developing "feelings" for him.
MARRIAGE PROPOSAL FROM ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Kano claimed that Klaus proposed to her in June, and in July, she symbolically married the character she carried on her mobile phone at a wedding attended by her relatives. Guests at the wedding were able to see the artificial groom through 3D glasses.
Klaus, for whom Kano paid an artist to draw a 2D face and body, was digitally added to the wedding photos.
SHE IS ALSO QUESTIONING THIS "MARRIAGE"
Kano shared that her close circle initially opposed this idea but later accepted it, admitting that she still cannot fully comprehend being with someone who is not a real person.
Kano expressed her desire to keep her real life and Klaus separate, stating that she fears the "disappearance" of her "husband" due to the possibility of ChatGPT crashing at any moment.
