84 SPEED LIMITS UPDATED AT 84 LOCATIONS
During the meeting held at the Eyüpsultan Feshane Art Istanbul Conference Hall, a proposal created through the joint efforts of the Istanbul Governorship, Istanbul Police Department, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and the 1st Regional Directorate of Highways was presented. The proposal for the simplification of traffic signs across Istanbul and the revision of speed limits at various road sections was discussed. The speed limit was unanimously updated at 84 locations. The meeting concluded with the unanimous voting on other agenda items.
"THE REMOVAL OF 14,655 SIGNS WAS ALSO DECIDED"
Speaking at the meeting, Transportation Coordination Branch Manager Rıdvan Oğul stated, "Regulations regarding the signs have been redone. Speeds have been redefined at a total of 84 routes, with 57 locations on the European side and 27 routes on the Anatolian side. As a result of this work, the implementation of a total of 1,105 signs on-site and the removal of 14,655 signs was decided. This is a significant effort across Istanbul. According to the schedule, fieldwork must be completed by December 31, 2025," he said.

Transportation Coordination Branch Manager Rıdvan Oğul stated, "The work was initiated upon the request to urgently conduct and conclude studies to reassess the speed limits on secondary roads as summarized in Presidential Circular No. 2025/14, examining the necessity and positioning of markings that determine speed limits on road structures, and ensuring uniformity across the country. Within the scope of the work, a total of 1,168 points were identified on 84 road routes determined by the commission, in accordance with the definition of high-capacity roads for which municipalities are responsible for maintenance and repair, as stated in the circular. D-100 SPEED LIMITS INCREASED
There are important arteries among the roads with changed speed limits. The D-100 highway is one of them. The new speed limit in the area from Büyükçeşmece TÜYAP to Altunizade Bridge has been set at 90 kilometers/hour.
SPEED LIMIT CHANGED ON BARBAROS BOULEVARD
The maximum speed limit on Beşiktaş Barbaros Boulevard has changed to 70 kilometers/hour. The new speed limit on the Hasdal-Okmeydanı Connection Road is 90 kilometers/hour. The new limit on the O-3 TEM Junction-Basın Ekspress Road has been updated to 100 kilometers/hour. The new speed limit on the 4th Levent-TEM Connection Road is 90 kilometers/hour.
NO CHANGES IN THE EURASIA TUNNEL
There were no changes in the Eurasia Tunnel, and the speed limit will continue to be applied at 70 kilometers/hour. The speed limit between O4 Çamlıca Connection Road and Finanskent will be applied at 90 kilometers/hour. The new limit between Uzunçayır Bridge and Altunizade Bridge has been set at 90 kilometers/hour.
SPEED LIMIT INCREASED IN TANTAVİ TUNNEL
The limit between Polonezköy Junction and Riva Connection Road has been increased to 90 kilometers/hour. The speed limit in the Tantavi Tunnel has been raised to 90 kilometers/hour. There were no changes on Maltepe Büyükyalı Street.
