Sixteen members of parliament who have served in different periods within the CHP published a letter stating that the institutional identity of the CHP is being targeted through indictments against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and Beşiktaş Municipality. They called on CHP leader Özgür Özel. The letter, which demands the establishment of an independent review mechanism within the party, included the statement, "Everyone who attempts to tarnish the CHP will receive the response they deserve sooner or later."
After the indictments prepared against CHP municipalities, 16 former CHP deputies published a joint letter to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, demanding the establishment of an independent internal review mechanism within the party.
FOUR PROPOSALS TO ÖZGÜR ÖZEL
The letter stated that the indictments against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) and Beşiktaş Municipality targeted the institutional identity of the CHP. A call was made to Özgür Özel.
The four proposals directed to Özgür Özel are as follows:
"1- Regardless of their position and duty, an independent internal party committee should be formed to investigate allegations against party members who have various claims against them or who state that they have been clearly defamed; the investigation process should be conducted quickly and transparently.
2- If evidence and indications regarding the allegations are obtained as a result of the investigation, necessary measures should be taken independently of the judicial process, and a disciplinary process should be initiated.
3- Party members who claim to have been defamed should be enabled to file criminal complaints against the individuals they accuse; a disciplinary process should also be initiated against those who do not resort to this path.
4- At the end of all these processes, those responsible for the incidents, the actions taken against them, and the next steps should be announced to the public transparently.
