In the Artova district of Tokat, 60-year-old A.K., who contracted Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever after a tick bite, could not be saved at the hospital where he was being treated. This year, tick-related deaths in Sivas have risen to six.
60-year-old A.K., who contracted Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever after a tick bite in Tokat, passed away at Sivas Cumhuriyet University Hospital where he was receiving treatment.
ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL WITH HIGH FEVER
According to information obtained, 60-year-old A.K., who was engaged in livestock farming in the village of Poyrazalan in the Artova district of Tokat, applied to Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Hospital with a complaint of high fever.
A.K., who was taken under treatment there, worsened 4 days later. Consequently, A.K. was transferred to Sivas Cumhuriyet University Hospital.
DIAGNOSED WITH CCHF, COULD NOT BE SAVED
During examinations in Sivas, A.K. was diagnosed with Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever. A.K., who continued treatment at the hospital, could not be saved despite all interventions by doctors.
It was claimed that A.K. removed the tick attached to his body using his own means.
DEATH TOLL RISES TO 6
The number of people who have died due to tick bites in Sivas this year has risen to 6. Authorities continue to warn citizens to take precautions against deadly ticks and the CCHF virus.
