Thunderstorms are affecting Istanbul. Temperatures have dropped to around 27 degrees, and many districts have seen roads turn into lakes. The rainfall is expected to continue until the evening hours.

Rain began to affect parts of Istanbul as of the morning hours. Intensifying in the later hours, the rain turned into a thunderstorm.

WARNINGS CAME ONE AFTER ANOTHER

Following warnings issued by the Turkish State Meteorological Service and the Disaster Affairs Department (AKOM), temperatures in the city dropped to around 27 degrees Celsius, and heavy rain began to be observed in many districts. According to meteorological data, the rainfall is expected to continue intermittently and heavily across different areas of Istanbul until the evening hours.

INTERMITTENT INTENSITY INCREASING

On the European side, intermittent heavy rain affected the districts of Beşiktaş, Fatih, Bakırköy, Eyüpsultan, Sultangazi, and Kağıthane. On the Anatolian side, thunderous rain showed its effect in some areas, particularly in Ümraniye, Kadıköy, Beykoz, and Üsküdar.

ROADS TURNED INTO LAKES

While citizens who were prepared for the rain moved along with their umbrellas, those caught unprepared preferred to wait under bus stops and shop awnings. In some areas affected by heavy rainfall, puddles formed on the roads. In Sultangazi, Esenler, and Kağıthane, roads turned into lakes due to the rain.
