The process accelerated significantly after the PKK declared a ceasefire following the call for disarmament by terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan. MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, who initiated the process with his first statement, also spoke on the phone with Ahmet Türk, who participated in the Imralı meetings, following discussions with DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan and Selahattin Demirtaş.
After Abdullah Öcalan's call to the terrorist organization PKK to "lay down arms," Bahçeli, who first called DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan and expressed support for the process by saying, 'Rest assured, we will democratize this country together,' continues his phone traffic.

Last Sunday, Bahçeli also spoke on the phone with former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, who is in Edirne Prison. While describing Öcalan's call as "important and valuable," he found the positive response from Kandil to be "pleasing."
"WE HOPE EVERYTHING WILL GO WELL"
Bahçeli most recently met with Ahmet Türk, who participated in the İmralı talks and read the Kurdish text of Öcalan's statement to the public. The meeting was announced by Halk TV writer İsmail Saymaz. Ahmet Türk stated that Bahçeli thanked him by saying, "Very nice" regarding the developments, and he conveyed that Bahçeli said, "We hope everything will go well; I am very happy about this."
HE HAD ALSO CALLED BAKIRHAN FIRST
Bakırhan mentioned in a television program that Bahçeli called him just 1 minute after Öcalan's call.
Bakırhan used the following statements:
"Mr. Öcalan values the October 1 statement and finds it very important. He dedicated a special time to it. He said that Mr. Bahçeli could play his role right after this call. After the live broadcast, Bahçeli called me. He congratulated me. He said, 'Rest assured, we will democratize this country together.' We will do everything we can for democracy. I am where I stand. I am ready to do whatever is necessary for democracy," he said.
