HE PASSED AWAY

HIS SONG CAME TO MIND
While Akbayram's death plunged the entire country into mourning, the song 'Wait for Us Istanbul', composed from a poem by Vedat Türkali, came to mind.
The lyrics of 'Wait for Us Istanbul', one of Akbayram's most well-known songs, are as follows:
"When the dawn winds blow
When the dawn winds blow
With your ships tearing the blue fabrics
With your ships tearing the blue fabrics
I think of you from afar
Istanbul
In the evenings of your Golden Horn with a thousand masts
In the evenings of your Golden Horn with a thousand masts
Spring in Süleymaniye with the sun
Oh, how beautiful you are, the state of our struggle
Istanbul
All this suffering was not in vain
Wait with your great and calm self
With your parks, your bridges, your squares
??Wait for us Istanbul
In the dark streets of Tophane
Wait with the children lying side by side
Wait for our passage with victory songs
Istanbul
We will overthrow the reign of the bandits
Wait for those days to come, Istanbul
You are suitable for us, and we are for you, Istanbul
Istanbul
All this suffering was not in vain
Wait with your great and calm Süleymaniye
With your parks, your bridges, your squares
??Wait for us Istanbul
Wait for us Istanbul"
