Following the stabbing death of 17-year-old Atlas Çağlayan in Güngören, another person has been arrested in the investigation regarding threats against his family. With the suspect captured in Şanlıurfa being sent to prison, the number of detainees in the case has risen to 5.
One more suspect was arrested for allegedly threatening the family of 17-year-old Atlas Çağlayan, who was stabbed to death in a fight in Güngören.
THE SUSPECT WAS CAPTURED IN ŞANLIURFA
As part of the investigation conducted by the Organized Crimes Investigation Office of the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect F.K., who was captured in Şanlıurfa for sending threatening messages to Atlas Çağlayan's family, was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station.
HIS STATEMENT WAS TAKEN VIA SEGBİS
The suspect, who was brought to the courthouse, gave his statement to the prosecutor via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS). After his statement, he was arrested by the duty magistrate to whom he was referred.
THE MURDER OCCURRED ON JANUARY 14
The incident took place on January 14 in the Mehmet Nesih Özmen neighborhood of Güngören, in front of a pastry shop. A dispute arose between Atlas Çağlayan and E.Ç. (15), who did not know each other beforehand, over the reason of "you looked sideways." As the argument escalated into a fight, E.Ç. stabbed Atlas Çağlayan with a knife referred to as a "switchblade."
HE DIED IN THE HOSPITAL
Severely injured, Atlas Çağlayan died despite all interventions at the hospital he was taken to. After the incident, police teams captured E.Ç. and his friends along with the knife used in the incident and took them to the police station.
The suspect E.Ç., who was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station, was arrested by the court he was brought to, as he was under 18 years old.
PROVOCATIVE SHARING AND THREAT INVESTIGATION
After the murder, 8 suspects were captured for making provocative posts and threatening the Çağlayan family. Of these suspects, 3 were released by the prosecutor's order, while A.E., Y.T., S.T., and one suspect were arrested, and judicial control was ordered for one person.
Finally, with the arrest of F.K., the number of detainees in the investigation rose to 5. It was reported that the investigation is ongoing in multiple directions.
