U.S. President Donald Trump made statements regarding the value of the U.S. dollar to reporters in Iowa.

"THE DOLLAR IS DOING GREAT"

In response to a question about the depreciation of the dollar, Trump said he did not think the dollar had lost too much value. Trump stated, "No, I think it's great. Look at the work we're doing. No, the dollar is doing great."

STATEMENT ON CHINA AND JAPAN

Trump mentioned that he used to struggle a lot with China and Japan because they wanted to devalue their currencies, stating that it was unfair and that competition became harder when they lowered the value of their money.

"I COULD HAVE MOVED IT UP AND DOWN LIKE A YO-YO"

Trump noted that the dollar was trying to find its own level, emphasizing that this was fair. U.S. President Trump said, "(The dollar) could have been moved up or down like a yo-yo."

INDEX FELL TO ITS LOWEST LEVEL IN 4 YEARS
