COUNCIL OF MINISTERS APPROVED, FLEET COMPLETELY RENEWED
The Spanish Council of Ministers approved Royal Decree No. 848/2025, which allocates a zero-interest loan of 1.04 billion euros (1.2 billion dollars) for the purchase of Hürjet from Airbus Defence and Space as part of a broader defense modernization initiative worth 3.6 billion euros, covering 168 new aircraft and helicopters by 2030. The Spanish Air Force fleet will undergo a comprehensive transformation.
WILL REPLACE THE F-5M FLEET
Hürjet will replace Spain's F-5M advanced training fleet under the "Advanced Flight Integrated Training System - Integrated Training System Program" (ITS-C). The jets will be customized to meet the requirements of the Spanish Air and Space Forces with the participation of Spanish aerospace and defense companies.
FIRST DELIVERY IN 2028
The first aircraft will be produced at TAI facilities in Turkey and will then undergo conversion at Airbus Defence and Space facilities in Spain, incorporating equipment developed in Spain and updated Integrated Training System capabilities. Deliveries are planned to begin in 2028, with the first group of aircraft ready for training and exercises for the 2029/2030 training period. The aircraft configured for Spain are expected to enter service starting in 2031.
