"I SHOUTED 'DON'T JUMP' FROM A DISTANCE"
Sümeyye Bulut, who witnessed the horrific moments of the incident, described the life-and-death struggle at the lake shore. Stating that she saw the young man heading into the lake to retrieve his bag, Bulut said:
"When he realized his bag had fallen, he attempted to jump. I shouted 'don't jump' from a distance because I know the lake is deep. He moved forward in the water for a while and reached his bag, but he struggled to get back from where he was. Then his uncle jumped into the lake to save him. Another citizen, seeing him in danger of drowning while trying to rescue him, also entered the lake. They floundered together for a while, but when that also failed, the citizen was only able to save the uncle."
