The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has shared the International Migration Statistics for 2024. The number of people migrating from Turkey to abroad decreased by 40.6% in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching 424,345. Men constituted 55.7% of the migrating population, while women made up 44.3%.

Men constituted 54.5% of the migrating population, while women made up 45.5%. Among the incoming population, 103,732 were Turkish citizens, and 210,856 were foreign nationals.



55.7% OF MIGRANTS ARE MALE



The number of people migrating from Turkey abroad in 2024 decreased by 40.6% compared to the previous year, reaching 424,345. THE LARGEST MIGRATION OCCURRED IN THE 20-24 AND 25-29 AGE GROUPS



When examining the age groups of those migrating to Turkey in 2024, it was observed that the largest group of migrants, at 14.7%, was in the 20-24 age group. This age group was followed by 25-29 at 12.1% and 30-34 at 10.3%. Looking at the age groups of the population migrating from Turkey, it was observed that the largest group of migrants, at 14.4%, was in the 25-29 age group. This age group was followed by 20-24 at 12.2% and 30-34 at 12.1%.



ISTANBUL IS THE MOST MIGRATED TO AND FROM CITY



When examining the distribution of migrants to Turkey by province in 2024, it was observed that Istanbul was the city receiving the most migration, at 32.8%. Istanbul was followed by Antalya at 8.5%, Ankara at 7.4%, Mersin at 5.5%, and Izmir at 3.7%. Looking at the distribution of the population migrating from Turkey by province, it was observed that Istanbul was the city with the highest emigration rate, at 34%. Istanbul was followed by Ankara at 8.5%, Antalya at 7.8%, Izmir at 3.3%, and Mersin.



THE MOST MIGRATION TO TURKEY IS FROM AZERBAIJAN



Among the foreign nationals coming to Turkey in 2024, Azerbaijani citizens ranked first with 9.9%. They were followed by Turkmenistan at 9.8%, Uzbekistan at 7.6%, the Russian Federation at 7.5%, and Iranian citizens at 5.9%.



Among the foreign nationals migrating from Turkey, Iraqi citizens ranked first with 17.4%. They were followed by Afghanistan at 13.1%, the Russian Federation at 10.2%, Iran at 5.9%, and Turkmenistan at 5.8%.
