It was claimed that Bashar al-Assad, the former President of Syria, was attempted to be poisoned and killed in Moscow. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that this attempt aimed to put Russia in a difficult position. It was reported that Assad's health condition is stable and that he has been discharged from the hospital.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) announced that former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was attempted to be poisoned while he was in Moscow.
In a statement made from the Observatory's X account, it was claimed that the attempt was planned to put the Russian government in a difficult position and to attribute the assassination to Moscow.
HEALTH CONDITION STABLE
It was reported that Assad was discharged from a hospital on the outskirts of Moscow on the morning of September 30, and his health condition is stable. According to sources, during his stay in the hospital, only his brother Mahir Assad and former Secretary General of the Presidency Mansour Azzam were allowed to visit him. The poisoning attempt occurred about a year after Assad's overthrow.
OVERTHROWN BY OPPOSITION GROUPS' OPERATION
Assad was overthrown in a sudden operation led by opposition groups under the leadership of HTS on December 8, 2024, thus ending the 54-year rule of the Assad dynasty.
