IT WILL BE MORE ACCESSIBLE AND SUSTAINABLE
The "Regulation on the Amendment of the Regulation on Treatment and Education Units for Tobacco Addiction" prepared by the Ministry of Health has been published in the Official Gazette.
According to the information provided by the Ministry regarding the regulation, the Ministry is expanding the service network in tobacco addiction treatment within the scope of the goal of "A Tobacco-Free Turkey," creating a more effective, accessible, and sustainable service model.
With the changes made in the regulation, it is aimed to increase effectiveness in many areas, from the training of health personnel to the strengthening of primary healthcare services, to reintegrate individuals into society in a healthier and more productive manner.
SMOKING CESSATION CLINICS CAN BE ESTABLISHED IN HEALTH CENTERS
With the new regulations, as the field capacity of primary healthcare services is increased, access to smoking cessation services will become even easier, and "Smoking Cessation Clinics" will be able to provide services not only in hospitals and Healthy Life Centers but also in Family Health Centers. Family physicians will be able to offer Smoking Cessation Clinic services in their units after receiving the necessary training.
In addition, with regulations aimed at regions where smoking cessation services have difficulty reaching, "mobile units" and "temporary on-site units" will be activated, ensuring equal access to smoking cessation support at the primary level throughout Turkey.
NEW ERA IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TOBACCO ADDICTION
With the amendment to the regulation aimed at improving the quality of smoking cessation services, the working methods and workflow diagrams of the tobacco addiction treatment and education units will be restructured, and the sections that should be present in the units will be organized to make physical conditions more applicable.
This will facilitate the opening of new units that will provide services in the field, while also enabling the establishment of a standard, efficient, and measurable service infrastructure across the country.
As part of the regulatory changes, updates to keep the knowledge and skills of health personnel current will be made mandatory through training updates, and continuous education support will be provided to all healthcare workers, ensuring that services are delivered in accordance with the most up-to-date scientific approaches in tobacco addiction treatment.
