Avalanche disaster at a mine in Russia: 6 dead

6 workers died in an avalanche that fell during road construction at a mine site in the Buryatia Autonomous Republic, part of Russia.

During road construction at a mine site in the Muysky District of the Republic of Buryatia, a part of Russia, an avalanche occurred.

6 WORKERS TRAPPED UNDER AVALANCHE

While 9 workers were trapped under the avalanche at the site, 3 managed to rescue themselves. Approximately 60 personnel from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reached the mine site and began search operations for the 6 workers buried under the snow. It was reported that another avalanche disaster occurred during the ongoing search and rescue efforts throughout the day, but the rescue teams managed to escape this disaster.

NO SURVIVORS

In a written statement by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, it was reported that the lifeless bodies of the 6 workers under the avalanche were found. The Russian Investigative Committee and the Buryatia Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
