Liverpool announced that their financial loss for the 2023-24 season is £57 million. The main reason for this loss is not qualifying for the Champions League last season, which resulted in a £38 million decrease in media revenues, bringing them down to £204 million.
One of the strongest teams in the English Premier League, Liverpool, has announced a financial loss of £57 million for the 2023-24 season.
THEY LOST £57 MILLION
In a statement from the English club, the main reason for the £57 million financial loss was cited as not participating in the Champions League last season and the club's media revenues decreasing by £38 million to £204 million.
Under the management of German coach Jürgen Klopp in his last season, Liverpool won the League Cup, finished third in the Premier League, and reached the quarter-finals in the FA Cup and the Europa League. However, the English club could not prevent a significant financial shortfall.
Last season, Liverpool achieved over £300 million in commercial revenue for the first time in their annual financial accounts, reaching a total income of £308 million, and paid a total transfer fee of £165 million for the transfers of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch. The English club had announced a financial loss of £9 million for the 2022-23 season.
