The leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, responded to U.S. President Trump's invitation to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to be among the founding members of the Peace Council in Gaza during his party's group meeting. Bahçeli stated, "The head of peace should be Turkey, and its head should be President Erdoğan."

WHAT HAPPENED?
U.S. President Donald Trump had invited President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to be among the founding members of the Peace Council, which will oversee the security and reconstruction process in Gaza. The Director of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, who shared the proposal with the public, stated the following:
"The United Nations Security Council has decided to support the 'Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict' announced by U.S. President Donald Trump with its resolution number 2803.
In this regard, the Peace Council and relevant structures will be established, which will be responsible for ensuring security and stability in Gaza and the reconstruction process.
U.S. President Donald Trump, on January 16, 2026, sent a letter as the founding chairman, inviting our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to join the Peace Council as a founding member."
