The DEM Party held a parliamentary group meeting in Nusaybin to draw attention to the ongoing conflicts in Syria. Tuncer Bakırhan, Co-Chair of the DEM Party, reacted to the statements of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, who said that the SDG/YPG does not represent the Kurds. Bakırhan stated, "They say don't speak your language, don't have a status. Are we supposed to ask you who represents whom? The SDG clearly represents the Kurds."

DEM Party held its parliamentary group meeting in Nusaybin to draw attention to the conflicts in Syria, while MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's statement that "SDG/YPG does not represent the Kurds" sparked a new debate in politics.

DEM PARTY HELD ITS GROUP MEETING IN NUSAYBIN

DEM Party conducted its group meeting of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey this week in the district of Nusaybin in Mardin, near the Syrian border, to highlight the ongoing conflicts in Syria. Co-Chairs of DEM Party, Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, came to the district for the meeting to be held at the Border Park, which is very close to the border line.

BAHÇELİ: SDG/YPG IS A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli used strong expressions in his speech at the TBMM Group Meeting, emphasizing that SDG/YPG does not represent the Kurds. Bahçeli stated the following in his speech:

"Indeed, the provocations of SDG/YPG that manifest in Syria are seen and shown as an attempt to undermine the February 27 Peace and Democratic Society process, led by the founding leadership of the PKK itself. A new political and social structure is being established in Syria. It is quite meaningful and beneficial that SDG/YPG, which raised the white flag when faced with pressure, had to sign a 14-article ceasefire and full integration agreement with the Damascus administration. The Arab tribes, Kurds, Turkmen, and other ethnic groups in Syria have no other search or desire than to live together as one and in brotherhood. Especially the Arab tribes that rose up in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor have shown extraordinary resistance against the SDG/YPG terrorism, working hand in hand with the Damascus administration. It must be reiterated that our Kurdish brothers are different from SDG/YPG. SDG/YPG is a terrorist organization; the claim that it represents our Kurdish brothers and speaks and claims rights on their behalf is a blatant lie, a product of imagination from A to Z."

BAKIRHAN'S STRONG REACTION TO BAHÇELİ

DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan reacted to Bahçeli's statement that "SDG does not represent the Kurds." In his statement, Bakırhan said:

"Gentlemen are also deciding who represents whom. They say do not speak your language, do not have your status. Are we supposed to ask you who represents whom? SDG clearly represents the Kurds. The autonomous administration represents all the people there. You cannot make this judgment. If you put it to a vote, can you get the consent of this society? You cannot. Who do you actually represent? Mr. Devlet Bahçeli says 'the founding leader of the PKK,' but he does not do what he says, he says 'Every inch must be cleaned and dried.' Are you a dry cleaner?"
