MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli stated regarding the İBB investigation, in which İmamoğlu is also being tried, "As I have emphasized before, the trial should be broadcast live on all television channels, especially TRT."
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made statements at his party's group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). In his statements, Bahçeli also referred to the indictment prepared regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), where Ekrem İmamoğlu is currently detained, and reiterated the idea of broadcasting the trial live on television.
"EVERYONE IS EQUAL BEFORE THE LAW"
Bahçeli stated: "Dear comrades, a 3,741-page indictment has been prepared and submitted to the court regarding the bribery and corruption case surrounding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality last week. I will not go into the details of the indictment here. Moreover, it is not our job. Turkish justice will now render its decision and judgment. There is no escape or salvation from this.
Everyone, especially the CHP administration, must respect the judiciary and refrain from the immoral language that insults judges and prosecutors. The rule of law is binding for all of us. The Republic of Turkey is a state of law. Everyone is equal before the law. No one has privileges or immunities.
"DISPARAGING THE INDICTMENT WILL NOT BENEFIT THE CHP"
What the court will say about Ekrem İmamoğlu and the 407 people being tried alongside him, 105 of whom are detained, and how it will reach a conclusion will soon be clear. Disparaging the indictment will not benefit the CHP; on the contrary, it will be seen as a manifestation of fear and anxiety.
"THE IMM TRIAL SHOULD BE BROADCAST LIVE ON TELEVISION"
In this regard, we have two sincere and genuine expectations:
1- The trial should be rapidly advanced, and it should not be allowed to be stalled or debated under political siege. It is evident that delayed justice is not justice. As Hz. Mevlânâ said: "Justice is putting everything in its rightful place."
2- As I emphasized before, the trial should be broadcast live on all television channels, especially TRT. The Turkish nation should see and learn everything that is happening. The discussion of the massive allegations surrounding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in court and the direct following of the trial stages will also support our legal and democratic security.
As I said, I will not go into the details of the indictment. Everything is being endlessly debated in the public domain; both the informed and the uninformed are pontificating day and night. However, I believe it is necessary to underline a clear and obvious issue. That is as follows:
The Republican People's Party, founded by the esteemed Atatürk, has been purchased using the resources of the municipality, that is, the state's money, by an organized crime group referred to as an "ecosystem." This is not where it ends; subsequently, opportunities for illegal bribery, commissions from tenders, and corruption have begun to emerge regarding the purchase of Turkey.
"THE SUSPECTS ARE KNOWN, STATEMENTS AND INFORMANTS ARE KNOWN"
A shocking, more greedily reinforced illegal scheme and attempt has been made for the financing of the upcoming presidential election. The suspects are known, and the statements and informants are known. Those who have taken it upon themselves to clean the area of bribery and corruption rules to buy Turkey have soon revealed themselves; thankfully, they have shown that the Republic of Turkey is not for sale like the congresses of the Republican People's Party.
In our view, this is the essence and summary of the indictment. The Republican People's Party administration, which constantly talks about economic problems, has exploited the taxes paid by our nation; the rights of our children who have not yet grown facial hair; the hopes of our retirees; the hard-earned money of our farmers; and the livelihoods of our tradesmen, civil servants, and workers for political operations.
"THIS IS NOT LOOTING, IT IS THE THEFT OF THE CENTURY"
Criticizing the investment mobilization and magnificent works ranging from dazzling earthquake housing to roads, bridges, tunnels, defense, industry, and city hospitals is now completely futile. It is a vain struggle, like a thief overpowering the homeowner. The counterpart of our retirees is in the money towers of the CHP. The legitimate earnings of our nation have been swindled, and the municipal treasury has been emptied. This is not looting; it is the theft of the century.
Neither the law, nor democracy, nor unemployment, nor inflation, nor any other issues of the economy can be discussed by the faces of these corruption brands. The Turkish nation has unfortunately witnessed similar economic thefts repeatedly and has been condemned many times. What the attacking, scheming, conspiracy-making, and poison-spewing economic gangs, capital groups, robbers, bribers, and global usurers aim for and where they want to reach is known to every person with a conscience.
We must absolutely learn lessons from the aggressive policies of contemporary countries that have opened wide economic gaps within our empire, which they historically and descriptively referred to as the "sick man"; those who have orchestrated military and political operations at distribution and sharing tables, and ultimately executed them. We must not forget that every concession given to reason and the rule of law will serve to complicate the problems further and lead Turkey into dead ends.
