A discussion took place between Mustafa Balbay, a columnist for Cumhuriyet newspaper, and Sinan Burhan, the General Editor of Millet News Agency, on the screens of Tv100. When Balbay stated, "I see an attack on a way of life here" regarding drug operations targeting celebrities, Burhan responded sharply, "That's right. Drugs, alcohol, the swamp... I completely attack that way of life."
On Tv100 screens, tensions rose between Cumhuriyet newspaper writer Mustafa Balbay and Millet News Agency General Editor Sinan Burhan. Referring to the recent drug operations targeting celebrities that have been widely discussed, Sinan Burhan expressed his reaction by saying, "Aren't these artists role models? Don't young people look at these artists and take their lifestyle, the cars they drive, the food they eat, this colorful life as an example? Isn't this a toxic language?"
"YOU WILL HANG THE DRUG BARONS"
Burhan stated, "Do you know how you will fight against them? You will hang the drug barons, and that’s how you will save the youth. There’s no need to twist and turn. The problem is that some of the so-called artists come to the public's attention through informants. The prosecutor doesn’t wake up in the morning and see them in a dream. You talk about the artist's honor, but don’t my million children have honor? Don’t they have families? Aren’t we going to go after those who are bad examples to society? Did I write those tapes? You won’t touch on any of this; you will just do the artist literature," he expressed.
"I SEE AN ATTACK ON A LIFESTYLE HERE"
In response, Mustafa Balbay said, "Just because an artist got involved in something wrong, we cannot brutally attack the lives of artists. I also see an ideological attack here; I see an attack on a lifestyle," leading to tense moments in the studio.
"YES, I AM COMPLETELY ATTACKING THAT LIFESTYLE"
Burhan reacted harshly to Balbay, stating, "Yes, I am attacking that lifestyle. Drugs, alcohol, the swamp... I am completely attacking that lifestyle. Yes, this is an ideological attack," he said.
PROF. DR. DENİZ ÜLKE KAYNAK ALSO REACTED
Another reaction to Mustafa Balbay's words came from Üsküdar University Dean Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Kaynak. Kaynak stated, "The moment Balbay said 'this is an attack on a lifestyle,' I would reserve my opinion; if it is perceived as an attack on a lifestyle, a very large group would be under a very different accusation, which is a very wrong statement."
