The number of ATMs integrated into the "Turkey's ATM Center (TAM)" project, which unites the ATMs of public banks under a single brand, has reached 12,000.

A total of 6 public banks; Ziraat Bankası, VakıfBank, Halkbank, Ziraat Katılım, Vakıf Katılım, and Emlak Katılım, aim to bring together 16,500 ATMs across the country under a single roof, allowing all services to be provided without costs and commissions. The introduction of the TAM project was carried out last year.

TAM PROJECT UNIFYING ATMs UNDER A SINGLE BRAND

The project, which is considered one of the significant digital transformation steps taken in the field of financial services in Turkey, has unified an ATM network consisting of 30 different models from different manufacturers as an integrated system under the TAM brand.

The project, which has standardized the software serving the ATM network and ensured that ATM operations are managed from a single source, enables member banks to provide faster and more advantageous services to their customers, allowing banking transactions to be carried out easily and from a single point.

THE NUMBER OF ATMs INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT HAS INCREASED TO 12,000

The platform, which provides services with a scalable, dynamic, parametric, and secure infrastructure, remains open for new members to join, while the number of ATMs included in the project has increased to 12,000. Within the scope of the TAM project, the primary goal is to include all of the existing 16,500 ATMs of public banks in the platform, and subsequently, to increase this number to 19,000.

MONTHLY FINANCIAL TRANSACTION VOLUME REACHED 150 BILLION LIRA

Bileşim Finansal Teknolojiler ve Ödeme Sistemleri AŞ, which carries out the TAM project and is a subsidiary of Ziraat Bankası, Türkiye Halk Bankası, and Türkiye Vakıflar Bankası, met with participants at TEKNOFEST.

At the world's largest aviation, space, and technology festival TEKNOFEST, organized under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation), the company's officials provided information about the advantages and capabilities of TAM ATMs, along with their products and services.

Efe Berber, the ATM Analysis and Testing Manager at Bileşim AŞ, stated that the project, which became operational in 2023 and encompasses 16,500 ATMs of public banks, supports more than 30 ATM models and consolidates ATM services under a single roof for management and optimization.

Berber mentioned that they currently have 12,000 ATMs of public banks operational in 81 provinces, stating, "Customers can perform existing transaction sets of public banks from all our provinces. To speak in numbers, we are talking about over 50 million transactions monthly and a financial transaction volume of 150 billion lira."

ADVANCED TRANSACTION SETS DEVELOPED BY TURKISH ENGINEERS

Emphasizing the advantages offered by the TAM project, Efe Berber continued: "Since we are a project that has newly structured the digital transformation infrastructure, the management of ATMs from a single source and the cost advantage with economies of scale have a significant impact here. Thanks to the management of software from a single source and the operation management from a single place, efficiency is at a very high level. We quickly implement advanced solutions developed by our Turkish engineers in licensing costs, software operation, and software development. As you know, Turkey actually has the most advanced transaction sets in the world for ATMs. In Europe or globally, an ATM is merely a unit for depositing and withdrawing money, but in Turkey, it is used almost like a mobile branch. It has branch functions. Our transaction sets are very rich and continuously expanding."

Berber stated that the TAM ATM project and its applications were entirely developed by Turkish engineers and mentioned that other banks could also join this platform.

NEW BANKS CAN JOIN

Bileşim AŞ ATM Analysis and Testing Manager Berber stated that their goal is to manage all 16,500 ATMs of public banks, noting: "This way, location-based optimization is achieved, and the cash reserves used in ATMs are utilized in the cycle along with the optimization of cash operations. This situation ensures that the cash funding needs of banks and financial institutions are optimized and used more efficiently. Our 12,000 ATMs are installed in 81 provinces. Plans have also been made for the installation of 4,500 more ATMs. These will gradually be integrated into the TAM system while operating in the public banks' own systems. New banks will also join our project when they wish to participate."

Efe Berber conveyed that ATMs are generally used for depositing and withdrawing money, stating that thousands of transactions can be performed at these ATMs, and each bank has hundreds of transaction sets, with examples ranging from institutional payments to bill payments and receiving change.
