A CHILDHOOD SHAPED BY SPORTS
Steven Sadettin Saran, born in 1964 in the United States, is the eldest of four brothers. Saran, who came to Turkey when he was just two years old, has a father, Özbek Saran, who is a civil servant from Kırıkkale, and a mother, Geraldine, who is American.
Having a hyperactive childhood, Saran grew up surrounded by sports. A former national swimmer, Saran captained the Turkish National Swimming Team between 1984 and 1985. The 50-meter freestyle swimming record he set during this period still belongs to him. Saran went to the USA on a sports scholarship and worked as a lifeguard and math tutor to cover his educational expenses.
EDUCATION AND CAREER IN AMERICA
Saran studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kentucky, where he also completed his master's degree. During his university years, he took on the role of captain of the swimming team. After graduation, Saran worked at Ensco Environmental Services, where he stood out for his determination and disciplined work ethic. He returned to Turkey in 1988.
After returning to Turkey, Saran worked as a consultant at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and founded SARAN International in 1989. He took on the representation of global giants such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon International, and ESPN.
In 1995, he took the helm of Saran Holding. Today, the holding operates in many fields from media to energy, aviation to the service sector, and has become one of Turkey's strongest groups.
LEADERSHIP IN THE MEDIA SECTOR
Sadettin Saran also made investments in the media sector. He became a pioneer in the industry with projects such as Radio Spor, Radio Time, Radio Tatlıses (later Radio Müzik), and Radio Trafik.
Today, Saran Media holds the broadcasting rights for approximately 65% of the sports competitions broadcast in Turkey. It also controls the broadcasting rights for many prestigious organizations such as the UEFA Europa League, FIFA World Cup, Premier League, and Argentine League.
FENERBAHÇE ADVENTURE
Saran served in the management of Fenerbahçe for a time and was one of the closest collaborators of President Aziz Yıldırım.
