British MP Tom Tugendhat made a bombshell claim regarding Iran, which has turned into a firestorm due to ongoing protests for the past 10 days. Tugendhat alleged that Russian cargo planes have landed in Tehran and that a large amount of gold has left Iran.

The Iran Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported that the number of people who lost their lives in the protests that began due to economic issues has risen to 36.

In a report published on the website of HRANA, based in the United States, information was provided about the protests that have been ongoing in the country for 10 days. According to this report, during this period, protests occurred in 27 out of the 31 provinces in the country, resulting in the deaths of 34 protesters and 2 individuals affiliated with security forces.

MORE THAN 2,000 DETENTIONS

In the protests that took place at a total of 285 locations across the country, dozens of people were injured, and 2,076 individuals were detained. It was stated that the injuries were largely due to being hit by rubber and plastic bullets. No official statement has been made by Iranian authorities regarding those who died or were injured in the protests.

BOMB CLAIM FROM BRITISH MP

While the protests in Iran continue, British MP Tom Tugendhat made a claim that could shake the world. Tugendhat stated that there are reports of Russian cargo planes landing in Tehran and large amounts of gold leaving Iran, questioning whether this indicates that the Iranian regime is preparing for life after a possible downfall.

"LARGE AMOUNTS OF GOLD HAVE LEFT IRAN"

In his speech to Parliament, Tugendhat said, "We also see that Russian cargo planes are coming and landing in Tehran, likely carrying weapons and ammunition, and we hear reports that large amounts of gold have left Iran." He asked whether the government could inform MPs about reports suggesting that "the regime itself is preparing for life after its downfall."

Hamish Falconer, the UK Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, stated that he could not provide detailed information regarding the reports, but he believes that the freedom of assembly and the right to protest are "indispensable rights of the Iranian people" and should be respected by the Iranian government.

PROTESTS IN IRAN

The protests that began on December 28, 2025, initiated by shopkeepers in the Tehran Grand Bazaar due to the high depreciation of the local currency against foreign exchange rates and economic issues, spread to many cities in the country. The Tasnim News Agency reported that the number of police injured in the protests has risen to 568, and the number of militia forces (Basij) injured has reached 66.

Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump stated in remarks regarding the protests in Iran that if the protesters are killed, the U.S. will rush to help and deliver a severe blow to the Tehran administration. In a statement made by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on January 5, it was announced that there would be no tolerance for the protesters.
