Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal and Dinar Mayor Veysel Topçu, who resigned from CHP, joined AKP. The pins of both mayors were affixed by President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the party's Expanded Provincial Chairmen Meeting.

After joining AK Party, Köksal made striking statements. Speaking to tv100, Köksal said: "For the first time since Kılıçdaroğlu's chairmanship, a leader treated me humanely and acted that way. The President's humble and sincere behavior made me happy. For a few days, I have been laying my head on the pillow with peace for the first time. Because it was never clear what time of night Mr. Özgür would write something. Besides that 'waste your husband' message, there are so many other messages..."
"LET ÖZGÜR ÖZEL DEAL WITH HIS OWN FILTH"
Stating that she returned to Afyonkarahisar with peace, Köksal said, "I had a peaceful day. Our President instructed ministers. They will fully support our projects for Afyon. I will no longer respond to Özgür Özel. Let him deal with his own filth. There are many messages. All of them are preserved. Apparently he had no control over his hand in the middle of the night, he wrote erratically."

Speaking about allegations regarding her husband, Köksal stated: "I have no doubt whatsoever about my husband Yasin. He has never had any connection with zoning, etc., issues... We have also left the slanderers, who constantly talk about 700 million, to both God and the judiciary. They released a video claiming a council member received 1.5 million TL from a contractor. That council member and the person who gave the money first met in Cyprus. Initially they told the police 'we never met.' Then when police records came out, they told the truth. A non-prosecution decision was given for my husband regarding this issue with a 16-page justification."
