The deputy mayor election held to replace the arrested and suspended Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey was won by the AK Party candidate Şahin Biba.

After the arrest of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey, the Vice Presidency election, in which the CHP did not participate by not nominating a candidate, was won by the AK Party.

SCUFFLE OCCURRED BEFORE THE ELECTION

In the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Council, an election was held for the Vice Presidency after Mayor Mustafa Bozbey was arrested and suspended from duty. Extraordinary security measures were taken around the municipal building before the Vice Presidency election, which was planned to be held at 11:00 AM. The riot police set up barriers, and water cannons were on standby. The entrance to the back parking lot of the municipality was also surrounded by barriers. A scuffle occurred between a group of 200 CHP members and the riot police.

In the election, the AK Party nominated Şahin Biba, a member of the Nilüfer Municipality Council. The CHP decided not to nominate a candidate in the election.

In the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Council, there are 50 members from the AK Party, 8 from the MHP, and 1 from the BBP. The CHP has 41 members, while the İYİ Party has 3, the Turkey Alliance Party has 1, the New Welfare Party has 1, and there is also 1 independent member represented in the council.

MUNICIPALITY SWITCHED TO AK PARTY

Şahin Biba, the AK Party candidate, won the election, in which he was the only candidate, in the 3rd round and became the Vice President of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.

In the meeting of the 106-member Metropolitan Municipality Council, Şahin Biba received all the votes of the 61 members participating in the first round, and in the second round, he received 60 votes but did not reach the required 71 votes. In the 3rd round, he was elected vice president by the decision of the 61 members since a simple majority was considered.

Şahin Biba, who was elected as the Vice President of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality from the AK Party, emphasized the importance of serving Bursa in his first statement after taking office. Biba stated that the majority in the municipal council reflects the will of the people and that everyone should respect the democratic process.

Thanking the council members who supported him, especially the People's Alliance, Biba expressed that the decisions made by the Metropolitan Municipality Council directly represent the will of the people. Highlighting the distribution of members in the council, Biba reminded that the majority is in the People's Alliance, stating that this situation is an indication of Bursa's preference.

Emphasizing the historical and cultural significance of Bursa, Biba said, "Bursa is not an ordinary city. Every step, every decision will shape not only today but also tomorrow."

Biba stated that their understanding of duty is based on responsibility rather than title, and he said they would use all their energy to serve Bursa without hiding behind any excuses. Biba also emphasized that services will be provided without discrimination in all 17 districts, stating that they will work with the goal of producing solutions wherever needed.
