Cenk Eren explained why the album project he and Nazan Öncel started was not completed. The singer claimed that he learned through a phone call from Öncel's spouse that the album was canceled on the grounds that it would harm his career.

Cenk Eren said that he and Nazan Öncel had at one point begun working on an album, and that during this process he spent his days at the artist’s home and studio. Stating that at that time they were performing at Günay with Nükhet Duru, Eren recounted that Öncel wanted her sister, who was working as a singer in İzmir, to appear on stage as well.

Eren, who said that he accepted Öncel’s proposal that her sister appear on stage before them and sing with them, reported that he spoke with the owner of Günay, formed an orchestra for this idea, and attended rehearsals. However, according to Eren’s account, the next day Öncel called and said that her sister would go on stage in the same way with Nükhet Duru. Eren, meanwhile, stated that this was a joint show with Duru and that he could not decide on his own.

Nazan Öncel

“WE DECIDED THAT MAKING AN ALBUM WOULD HARM YOUR CAREER”

Eren said that two days after this conversation, Öncel’s husband, Mr. Akşit, called him and informed him that the album work had been canceled. Eren reported that he was told, “Ms. Nazan thought about it a lot, and we decided that making an album for you would harm your career.”

Questioning this justification, the singer reacted to what had happened with the words, “Well, did I not have a career when you gave me a song?” and “Was it only after five months, when your sister no longer had stage work, that I was going to harm your career?”

HE REMINDED HER OF GIVING A SONG TO TUĞBA EKİNCİ

Eren said that at the time reports appeared in the press saying the album had been canceled because it would harm Nazan Öncel’s career, while he remained silent. He recounted that years later, when he saw that Öncel had given a song to Tuğba Ekinci, he tweeted, “So she didn’t think it would harm Ms. Tuğba’s career.”

The singer also reported that he told Öncel, who was complaining about housing prices in Cihangir, that years ago she had taken “almost the price of an apartment” from him for a song.
