In a chain collision involving three vehicles on a slippery road due to rain in the Kula district of Manisa, Aytekin Akkaya and Nadir Salmanov (56) lost their lives, and 4 people were injured.
SLIPPERY ROAD DUE TO RAIN LED TO THE ACCIDENT
The accident occurred around 19:15 on the İzmir-Uşak highway at the Kavacık ramp in the Kula district. On the road slippery due to rain, a TIR loaded with thinner with license plate 99 ZC 168 driven by Nadir Salmanov rear-ended a TIR with license plate 06 AU 2777 driven by Osman Aktaş and a light commercial vehicle with license plate 20 PV 447 driven by Rüstem B. (38). Due to the force of the collision, the TIR with license plate 99 ZC 168 overturned into a field by the roadside, while the other TIR tipped onto its side, blocking the road.
2 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
Upon notification, numerous ambulances, fire trucks, and police teams were dispatched to the area. Health teams arriving at the scene determined that Aytekin Akkaya, a passenger in the light commercial vehicle, and Nadir Salmanov, the driver of the TIR, had lost their lives. The injured driver of the light commercial vehicle, Rüstem B., along with passengers Bülent K. (25) and Adem K. (44) in the vehicle, and the driver of the other TIR, Osman A., were taken to Kula State Hospital by ambulances after initial medical interventions at the scene. Following the investigation at the scene, the bodies of the two deceased were placed in the morgue of the same hospital.
ROAD REOPENED TO TRAFFIC CONTROLLED AFTER 3 HOURS
Due to the overturned TIR, a long vehicle queue formed on the highway. The road was reopened to traffic controlled approximately 3 hours later, following the teams' inspection and road cleaning efforts at the area. An investigation into the accident has been initiated.
