On the TEM Highway's Istanbul direction, in the Şirintepe area, 4 trucks and 4 cars were involved in a chain collision due to slippery roads caused by rain. Upon receiving a report to the 112 Emergency Call Center, numerous fire, medical, UMKE, highway gendarmerie, and police teams were dispatched to the scene.
2 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
With the intensity of the collisions turning the highway into a battlefield, some injured individuals trapped in their cars were rescued by fire crews and handed over to medical teams.
In the accident, the driver Selim Kılıç and Kadir Balaban, who were in the car that crashed into the truck from behind, lost their lives. 4 injured individuals, 2 of them seriously, were taken to the hospital after initial interventions. The injured are being treated at the City Hospital, Kocaeli University Medical Faculty Hospital, and Derince Training and Research Hospital.
Due to the accident, the Istanbul direction was closed to traffic for a long time. Highway teams began cleaning operations on the road. Traffic is being managed in a controlled manner from a single lane. Additionally, it was observed that beverages and wood from the trucks involved in the accident were scattered on the road. Furthermore, the accident scene was captured in aerial footage.
