A chain supermarket in Istanbul's Beylikdüzü district offering discounts of up to 50 percent on meat products caused heavy crowding. Citizens flocked to the market after hearing that ground beef was being sold for 549 liras per kilogram and diced meat for 699 liras. There was no room to step in the aisles, and even moving shopping carts became difficult. Long queues formed by citizens carrying armfuls of meat were captured on camera.
