Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır met with AK Party members of parliament and the central management. During the meeting, Kacır announced that a new Chinese vehicle company wants to invest in Turkey.
ARROWS POINTING TO SAMSUN
During the meeting, it was mentioned that the investment decision would be made by January, and it was emphasized that it is highly likely that the investment will be made in a port city. According to a report by Yeni Şafak, there are discussions in the corridors that the Chinese company will invest in a city in northern Turkey, while some party sources claim that the company is the Chinese giant Chery, and the city where the investment will be made is Samsun.
"INVESTMENTS MAY FLEE TO POLAND AND LATVIA"
Kacır reportedly responded to criticisms during the meeting regarding "Why are Chinese vehicle companies being allowed into the country while we have domestic vehicle production?" Kacır stated that he does not agree with this view, and if investments are not permitted, companies will flee to countries like Poland and Latvia, leaving Turkey as just a market. Additionally, Kacır pointed out that Togg has launched 40,000 vehicles in a short period, a figure that even Tesla took 4-5 years to reach. Kacır emphasized that Turkey is number one in the world in UAV production and number one in Europe in the production of solar panels, commercial vehicles, and white goods.
