Yiğit Bulut, the Chief Advisor to the President who was undergoing cancer treatment and whose condition recently worsened, has passed away at the age of 53. Suleyman Soylu, who announced the sad news, stated, "Our Chief Advisor to the President, member of the Economic Policy Council, journalist-writer, and esteemed economist Yiğit Bulut has passed away this morning after suffering from a tragic illness."
Chief Advisor to the President, Member of the Economic Policies Board Yiğit Bulut passed away at the age of 53 in the hospital where he had been receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer for some time.
AK Party Istanbul Deputy Süleyman Soylu stated on his social media account, "Our Chief Advisor to the President, Member of the Economic Policies Board, journalist-writer, and esteemed economist friend Yiğit Bulut has passed away this morning after suffering from a serious illness. I extend my condolences to his grieving family, relatives, and loved ones. May God have mercy on him, and may his place be in paradise."
HE WAS RECEIVING CANCER TREATMENT
Yiğit Bulut, who was receiving cancer treatment in a hospital in Istanbul and whose condition had worsened, was visited by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu in recent days.
WHO IS YİĞİT BULUT?
Born in 1972 in the Keşan district of Edirne, Yiğit Bulut is known for his identity as a journalist and economic commentator. After completing his secondary education at Galatasaray High School, he graduated from Bilkent University with a degree in Banking and Finance, and then completed his master's degree at Sorbonne University in France.
Bulut began his media career as an economic commentator on television channels such as Kanal 6, Kanal E, and CNN Türk, and wrote columns on economics and finance for newspapers like Radikal, Vatan, and Referans. He also produced and hosted the programs "Parametre" and "Finans Analiz." In 2009, he was appointed as the General Director of Habertürk TV and left this position in 2012. He later worked at Star Media Group and served as the general director of 24 TV.
He began his political career in 2013 when he was appointed as Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister, and in 2014 he became the Chief Economic Advisor to the President. In 2018, he was appointed as a member of the Presidential Economic Policies Board.
In his private life, he married Şule Zeybek, the daughter of former minister Namık Kemal Zeybek and a news anchor at Kanal D, in 2000, and they divorced in 2010. He has a son named Ahmet Yiğit from this marriage.
