'China, India Not Sending More Troops On Frontlines'

China’s Defense Ministry says both sides agreed to ‘refrain from unilaterally changing the situation’ in Ladakh.

China and India have agreed to stop sending more troops on the frontlines along the Ladakh border, Beijing announced on Tuesday night.
"Both sides agree to stop sending more troops to the frontline and refrain from unilaterally changing the situation on the ground," said China's National Defense Ministry, according to the daily Global Times.
China and India are engaged in a border standoff in Ladakh area of disputed Jammu and Kashmir since this May. At least 20 Indian soldiers lost their life in June in a border clash.
The two countries have amassed thousands of troops along the unmarked border – known as Line of Actual Control (LAC).
"[India and China] will avoid taking any actions that may complicate the situation," the Chinese Defense Ministry added.
The two sides also agreed to "strengthen communication on the ground, avoid misunderstandings and misjudgment." -
