CHP Chairman Kılıçdaroğlu: An honest mayor does not betray his voters.

CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu sharply criticized the mayors who switched from the CHP to the AK Party. Kılıçdaroğlu, who made corruption allegations against the mayors who changed parties, said, "An honorable mayor, a moral mayor does not betray his voters." In his speech, Kılıçdaroğlu also touched on the Terror-Free Turkey process, Tayfun Kahraman's detention, allegations regarding the appointments of judges and prosecutors, and the fund investigation.

CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said, “You will get the people's votes. You will get the CHP's votes. You will steal. You will run headlong to the other side. An honorable mayor, a moral mayor, does not betray his voters.”

“THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE SOLVED”

CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu spoke at his party's parliamentary group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Regarding the Terrorism-Free Turkey process, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “I was in Şırnak last week. We went from Cizre to Beytüşşebap. The public is sensitive about the resolution process. But they also have concerns. They say, ‘I hope it doesn't break down.’ They say, ‘I hope the resolution process succeeds.’ I told them this: As the Republican People's Party, we have long contributed to ending this issue. We struggled. We pointed to an address. This problem must be solved. Let this problem be solved as soon as possible and let Turkey attain peace. That is the region's most fundamental expectation. We want to live in peace. We want to live together. We want to live freely. We must be together. We must struggle together. We must be together in joy and sorrow. We will do whatever is necessary for this country's good and this country's peace, today and in the future.”

“THERE IS A MORAL PROBLEM WITH THESE MAYORS”

CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, regarding the mayors who switched to the AK Party, said, “The mayors who transferred to the AK Party. I don't know how these mayors were appointed or assigned or elected. But I don't want to insult artificial intelligence either. We have no right to slander artificial intelligence anyway. This person gets the votes of Republican People's Party members. How does he suddenly transfer to the other side? How is it that a mayor who until yesterday said all sorts of things, went door to door, street to street, avenue to avenue saying ‘please don't vote for these people,’ suddenly transfers to the other side overnight? How does it happen? Two things happen: one, he has taken the goods and is looking for a place to shelter; they say, ‘come here at once.’ Two, he hasn't taken the goods yet but wants to take them. He wants to steal. He says, ‘If I stay with the CHP brand, they will still hold me accountable. I'd better go over there.’ There is no limit to theft. There is no limit to taking goods. Fleece and plunder as much as you want. And the government pats you on the back. These mayors have a problem with their sense of shame. They have a moral problem. You will get the people's votes. You will get the CHP's votes. You will steal. You will run headlong to the other side. He says, ‘I stole. I am just like you. Don't touch me. I came among you.’ No. An honorable mayor, a moral mayor, does not betray his voters. You are betraying your voters. He engages in corruption, takes the goods, finds a place to shelter. There his back is patted. They say, ‘Bravo, you too have joined us.’ They think that when he goes, all CHP members will go there. No, brother. You are there because you took the goods and secured yourself and your family. But the CHP voters who voted for the CHP will never follow you. They will know these truths. The only harbor where thieving mayors, corrupt mayors, can take shelter is the AK Party General Headquarters.”

“RELEASE TAYFUN KAHRAMAN”

Meanwhile, recalling the Constitutional Court's ruling regarding Tayfun Kahraman, the CHP leader said, “Release Tayfun Kahraman already. There is conscience, after all. There is reason. There is law. There is justice. He must be released. A judge must be independent. A judge's conscientious conviction is very important. The Constitution says for a judge, ‘He decides according to the law and his conscientious conviction.’ If a judge has become politicized, he no longer has conscientious conviction. Nor does he have law anymore. Recently, Ankara Bar Association No. 2 Chairman Gökhan Ağdemir made exactly this statement on a television channel: ‘As the bar association, we strive to help our colleagues in whatever direction they request. In our 2-year working period, we made 70 lawyer colleagues who are bar members judges and prosecutors. We talked with the ministries; thank God, the ministry granted us a privilege in that sense too.’ If a judge enters and becomes a judge through someone's favoritism, will that judge listen to his conscientious conviction or fulfill the request of the man who did him a favor? Our biggest problem is justice. Its name is not law, not justice.”

“WE WILL PROTECT THE NATION'S EVERY LAST PENNY”

Also speaking about the fund investigation, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “We call it a fund swindle. We say let's investigate. We submit an investigation motion. For God's sake, tell me, if this Grand National Assembly of Turkey will not investigate this matter, what will it investigate? If 600 members of parliament will not look into this, what will they look into? The 600 members of parliament receive a salary every month. We pay the world's money. So if the Grand National Assembly of Turkey will not look into this matter, this theft, this swindle, who will look into it? They reject it. That won't do. If you reject it, you are a partner; let no one take offense. It must be before the nation's eyes. Let no one say, ‘Sir, we had no news.’ Everyone in the state who did this had news of it. Therefore, this must be accepted as a criminal organization and the prosecutor's office must look at the matter that way. There was that famous person who carried out a perfect robbery, a swindle, Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya. Did she now testify as a suspect or did she do this as a declarant? We don't know that either. If she is a suspect, let's look at her too: why did she give this statement? If you say, ‘I will take the invoice for this corruption, this swindle, these billions of liras off the nation's back and pay the victim,’ we will bring the world down on your heads. I say this clearly and openly. We will protect the nation's every last penny. You will pay the swindler's money yourselves, brother. You will pay it yourselves.”
