Berkay Gezgin, who is known as the architect of the slogan "Everything will be very beautiful," used by Ekrem İmamoğlu during the 2019 local elections when he was elected as the Mayor of Istanbul, has been released from prison after being arrested following the Saraçhane protests. Upon his release, an interesting dialogue took place between Gezgin, CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik, and Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal.
The Istanbul 49th Criminal Court of First Instance issued a release decision for 102 young people, including Berkay Gezgin, who is known as the architect of the slogan "Everything will be very beautiful," used by Ekrem İmamoğlu in the 2019 local elections, after the Saraçhane protests.
FIRST STATEMENT AFTER RELEASE
Following the decision, the young people whose procedures were completed began to exit the prison. They were welcomed by the CHP delegation and their families in front of the Marmara Prison in Silivri. Berkay Gezgin, who was also elected as a member of the CHP Party Council after his arrest, stated in a press release in front of the prison after his release, "Thank you very much for continuing the struggle while we were inside. Remember that no one can stand in front of the will of the people. We are outside now because you fought. We will also get Ekrem out as soon as possible. Everything will be very beautiful."
STONE FROM ÇELİK AND TANAL TO GEZGİN
Gezgin later took a souvenir photo with those who came to welcome him. During this time, notable moments occurred. CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik referred to Gezgin's height, saying, "By the way, I normally had a principle of not taking photos next to Berkay..." While laughter ensued, CHP Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal intervened this time. Tanal asked, "Wait a minute Berkay, the prison doors are not that high. What did you do?" Gezgin's response to Tanal was, "I passed by bending down."
