In the recent local elections, the CHP, which became the leading party in Turkey with the votes it received, has been experiencing intensified discussions as it has been unable to maintain its votes over the past 9 months. While information leaks from behind the scenes indicate that a group of deputies is working to take the party to a congress; CHP Istanbul Deputy Oğuz Kaan Salıcı made striking statements during a television program he attended. "A LOSS OF 10 POINTS"Salıcı stated that the CHP has lost nearly 10% of its votes since the local elections, saying, "We came first with 38% of the votes. It seems we could not maintain that 38% of the votes. There is a withdrawal, maybe 7-8, perhaps 10 points." "NORMALIZATION HAS NOT BENEFITED US"Salıcı pointed out that the steps taken by the CHP to normalize relations with the government have not been beneficial for the party, stating, "Politics cannot be made by looking at polls. You present a political idea, and you cannot get the result in the first month. Sometimes you get it in 6 months, sometimes in a year. But if you consistently explain what that policy is and convince the citizens, maybe you can get the result in two months. The set of policies presented is normalization. Normalization has not brought us any benefit," he said.
