The Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who is on his way to the Syrian capital Damascus, faced an attack from the terrorist organization SDG/YPG following their call for integration. The Syrian army responded to the attack, which took place near the Sheyhan and Leramon areas in Aleppo province.
The Syrian army and the terrorist organization YPG/PKK, which uses the name SDG in the country, have seen injuries in the clashes that broke out in Aleppo province.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who visited Damascus with National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler and MIT President İbrahim Kalın, made a joint press statement with his Syrian counterpart, Assad Hasan Sheybani; Fidan once again called for the SDG to integrate into the Syrian army.
ATTACKS FOLLOWING FIDAN'S CALL
After Fidan's call for integration, the terrorist organization YPG/PKK, which uses the name SDG in the country, attacked the Syrian army. According to local sources, YPG/PKK launched an attack on the position of Syrian soldiers near the Şeyhan and Leramon regions of Aleppo province.
INTERIOR MINISTRY'S STATEMENT
According to a statement made by the Syrian Interior Ministry regarding the issue, YPG/PKK elements in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo opened fire on the control points of the Syrian army despite prior agreements.
The statement said, "In this incident, one person from the Internal Security Forces and one from the army were injured. Additionally, there are also injuries among civil defense personnel and civilians."
WHAT DID HAKAN FIDAN SAY?
After the meetings, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made statements at a press conference he held with his Syrian counterpart Sheybani. Minister Fidan once again called for the SDG to integrate into Syria and stated: "As Turkey, we value the stability of Syria. We are ready to show all assistance and cooperation for this. Our President is particularly sensitive on this issue. On the other hand, we want the talks between Israel and Syria to reach a conclusion as Turkey."
"SDG IS NOT INTENDED FOR INTEGRATION"
This is extremely important for the stability of this region and for the stability of Syria. Instead of pursuing expansionist policies, it is crucial for Israel to reach an agreement based on mutual understanding with the countries in the region, which will contribute to the stability of the region and global security. The integration of the SDG into the Syrian administration is very important for stability. The integration of the SDG should develop in a way that benefits everyone. We see that the SDG does not intend to make much progress in the (integration talks with the Damascus administration). The fact that the SDG carries out certain activities in coordination with Israel is currently a major obstacle in the talks with Damascus.
"DAMASCUS IS PART OF THE COALITION IN THE FIGHT AGAINST ISIS"
In the fight against ISIS, Damascus is now part of the international coalition. The discussions focused on what Turkey, along with Damascus and the coalition, can do and what kind of support can be provided. In bilateral relations, we had the opportunity to address issues such as trade and the dignified return of our refugee brothers. The whole world saw in Syria that a government has emerged that truly provides stability and seeks to strengthen integrity.
