Mobile phone tariff increase: Here are the new rates.

With the new tariff that came into effect on April 1, the BTK has increased mobile service prices by an average of 15.8%; call, SMS, and various transaction fees have risen.

The Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK) announced the new maximum fee schedule for mobile communication services, which will be effective as of April 1. With the new regulation, significant increases have been observed in mobile phone tariffs.

15.80% INCREASE IN FEES 

According to the tariff published by BTK, maximum fees have been increased by an average of 15.80%. The institution had implemented the last price increase on October 1. Thus, the total increase rate on an annual basis reached 30.5%.

INCREASE IN CALL AND SMS FEES

According to the new tariff, the cost of domestic calls has risen from 4.11 TL to 4.75 TL per minute. The cost of calling abroad has increased from 48.68 TL to 56.37 TL per minute. The domestic SMS fee has been raised from 2.93 TL to 3.39 TL, while the international SMS fee has increased from 8.54 TL to 9.88 TL.

INCREASES IN OTHER SERVICES

With the regulation, the line transfer fee has increased from 78.91 TL to 91.38 TL. The activation/deactivation fee has risen from 183.68 TL to 212.70 TL, and the fee for changing a SIM card outside the warranty coverage has increased from 180.06 TL to 208.51 TL. The number change fee has also been raised from 180.06 TL to 208.51 TL, and the name change fee has increased from 53.88 TL to 62.39 TL.

EMPHASIS ON MAXIMUM FEES

BTK emphasized that these tariffs are maximum fees, stating that mobile operators cannot charge fees above these amounts.
