A post made by Rümeysa Eker, a municipal council member in the Terme district of Samsun, on her social media account led to tension during a council session. Neslihan Özdemir, speaking on behalf of the CHP Group, reacted by reading Eker's post, which contained expressions directed at Kemalists, from the podium and then leaving the hall, escalating the dispute. Council member Eker responded by calling it an "effort to create an agenda" and "interpretation for personal interests."

In the Terme district of Samsun, a post made by Municipal Council Member Rümeysa Eker on her social media account raised tensions during the municipal council session. The council descended into chaos after CHP council members read controversial statements from the podium and left the hall, while Eker's defense of her post as "a correct general inference" further escalated the tension.

"I READ THIS WITH SHAME," SHE SAID

During the Terme Municipal Council meeting, CHP female council member Neslihan Özdemir brought Rümeysa Eker's social media post to the council agenda. Özdemir, saying "I read this with shame," read Eker's statements to the faces of the council members:

"In this country, pr...utes and ne'er-do-wells are Kemalists. Drug traffickers are Kemalists. Those who say 'I'll handle it, I'll sort it out' are Kemalists. Those operating sex shops are Kemalists and support the left."

The CHP group then left the council.

SHE DEFENDED HERSELF: A GENERAL INFERENCE

After the CHP group left the hall, Rümeysa Eker took the floor in the council and stated that she stood by her words. Eker said the following:

"They interpreted it however they wanted to understand. That is a general inference, and it is correct, I know that. You know, this right-left thing... Actually, among leftists, I've also met many types like Neslihan abla who are thoughtful, respectful, and don't wrong anyone in any matter, but I think they interpreted it somewhat according to their personal interests."

"THEY ARE DOING THIS TO CREATE AGENDA"

Eker, who said she did not accept the way her post was reflected in the public eye and blamed the opposition, defended herself by saying, "This is partly to create an agenda; otherwise, it couldn't be interpreted as they understood it. And time will certainly reveal who is right in the end."
