After Mustafa Bozbey's detention in Bursa, political circles became active. In the event of a possible arrest, it is considered that the management of the municipality could change due to the parliamentary majority being held by the AK Party and MHP.
The detention order issued for 59 individuals, including Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey, has stirred not only the judicial process but also the political balances. It is being discussed that the management of the municipality could change if Bozbey is arrested.
MUSTAFA BOZBEY IN CUSTODY
As part of the operation carried out in the morning hours, 55 suspects, including Mustafa Bozbey, were detained. It was stated that the investigation is being conducted on charges of establishing and being a member of a criminal organization, bribery, money laundering from crime, and causing environmental pollution. It was reported that some names from Bozbey's family are among those detained.
BOZBEY'S SITUATION WILL DETERMINE POLITICAL BALANCES
After the operation, the political scene in Ankara also became active. As the focus of politics shifted to the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, it is assessed that Bozbey's legal process will directly affect the management of the municipality.
IF REMOVED FROM OFFICE, ELECTION WILL BE HELD
If Bozbey is arrested, it is expected that he will be suspended from duty. In this case, the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Council will enter an election process to determine a deputy mayor.
COUNCIL IN THE HANDS OF THE AK PARTY AND MHP
The current distribution in the municipal council strengthens the possibility of a potential change in management. In the council, there are 41 members from the CHP, 6 from the İYİ Party, 1 from the New Welfare Party, and 1 from the Great Unity Party. The total number of members from the AK Party and MHP is 57. According to this scenario, it is stated that the AK Party and MHP, which hold the majority in the deputy mayor election, will be decisive, and therefore, the management of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality could change hands.
