The Meteorology Department issued yellow and orange code warnings for 35 provinces. In the orange (dangerous) code warning, citizens were asked to be cautious and take precautions against flash floods, waterlogging, and possible disruptions in transportation due to the very heavy and severe rainfall expected in the Central and Western Black Sea regions. Similar warnings were also issued for Istanbul and Ankara.
According to the statement from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the downpour expected to start in the evening hours in the Eastern Mediterranean, Marmara, Central Black Sea, Western Black Sea, and Central Anatolia is forecast to continue until tomorrow evening. Precautions and caution are required against adverse conditions such as flash floods, water inundation, lightning, local hail, strong winds, and disruptions in transportation.
YELLOW AND ORANGE CODED WARNINGS FOR 35 PROVINCES
Provinces warned with orange code: Amasya, Bolu, Çorum, Kastamonu, Kocaeli, Ordu, Sakarya, Samsun, Sinop, Tokat, Zonguldak, Bartın, and Düzce.
Provinces warned with yellow code: Adana, Ankara, Balıkesir, Bilecik, Bursa, Çanakkale, Çankırı, Eskişehir, Hatay, Istanbul, Kayseri, Kırşehir,
Konya, Kahramanmaraş, Niğde, Sivas, Tekirdağ, Yozgat, Kırıkkale, Yalova, Karabük, and Osmaniye.
ATTENTION FOR THOSE LIVING IN ISTANBUL AND SURROUNDING PROVINCES
The 1st Regional Directorate of Meteorology Istanbul Regional Forecasting and Early Warning Center stated that the showers and thunderstorms expected in the Marmara Region are forecast to be locally strong in Tekirdağ, Istanbul, Yalova, and Kocaeli surroundings from the night hours, and very strong and severe in the north of Sakarya and Kocaeli.
Caution and precautions are required against adverse conditions such as floods, water inundation, landslides, local hail, lightning, disruptions in transportation, strong winds, and storms that may occur due to the precipitation.
ANOTHER WARNING FOR ANKARA
According to the latest data from the Analysis and Forecasting Center of the General Directorate of Meteorology, strong and thunderous rains are expected in Ankara today and tomorrow. In a statement on its social media account regarding the issue, the Ankara Governorship said, "According to the latest data from the Analysis and Forecasting Center of the General Directorate of Meteorology; since the showers and thunderstorms expected across Ankara province today are forecast to be locally strong thunderstorms from this evening onwards, caution and precautions should be taken against adverse conditions such as sudden floods, water inundation, lightning, local hail, sudden strong winds and short-term storms, and disruptions in transportation that may be caused by the heavy rains."
GOVERNORSHIPS WARNED
In the warning statement from the Samsun Governorship, it was stated, "According to the latest assessments, since the showers and thunderstorms starting from the night hours across our province of Samsun are expected to be locally very strong and occasionally severe (51-100 kilograms per square meter), precautions and caution are required against possible adverse conditions (sudden floods, water inundation, lightning, local hail, landslides, strong winds during rain, and disruptions in transportation)."
In the warning from the Ordu Governorship, it was stated, "The showers and thunderstorms expected in the Central Black Sea region are forecast to be very strong and severe (51-100 kilograms per square meter) in the western parts of our province as of the morning hours of July 25. Precautions and caution should be taken against adverse conditions such as sudden floods, water inundation, lightning, local hail, sudden strong winds, short-term storms, and disruptions in transportation that may be caused by the heavy rains."
AFAD SENT AN SMS
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), in an SMS sent to citizens, stated that very strong and severe downpours are expected across the province tonight and tomorrow, and called for precautions against the risk of floods, water inundation, landslides, hail, and storms.
